Abstract: Through Implementation Science, the field of Speech Language Pathology is seeking to close the research to practice gap. This session will share the framework used by one school based team of SLPs to narrow the gap through regular, informal conversations based on several sources providing high quality, clinician ready research. The presenters will review the types of evidence practicing SLPs may wish to review, share resources used by this team to find clinically relevant EBP, provide examples of the format of our "Evidence Chat" meetings, and provide examples of the EBP Toolboxes derived from our meetings. We will also share some examples of DX and TX tools that SLPs on our team have implemented as a result of our Evidence Chats and share video examples of actual team discourse. Our team has focused on closing the gap between the research and clinicians by focusing on several high quality sources of filtered, clinician ready evidence. A discussion on challenges and next steps will be included. As a result of regular “Evidence Chats,” our team has developed a strong identity as EBP based SLPs. SLPs have used our evidence chats to try new assessment tools, therapy techniques, and consider adjunct topics. Our team is more confident in seeking out, using, and sharing clinician ready evidence to strengthen our day to day practice.
