Neurosciences Bone Health Pediatrician
Medical College of Wisconsin
Virginia A. Kaperick, M.D., FAAP, serves as both a Neuromuscular Pediatrician and Neurosciences Bone Health Pediatrician providing care for high-risk patients in the Children’s Wisconsin Child Neurology program at the Medical College of Wisconsin. With over 20 years of practice in Pediatric Hospital Medicine, she went on to complete a unique Neuromuscular Pediatrician fellowship at Children’s Wisconsin. Following this she expanded her practice to specialize in bone health evaluation and management of children with complex medical and neurologic history who are at high risk for secondary osteoporosis. Essential to her practice are preventive bone health optimization strategies, including bisphosphonate therapy when indicated, with a focus on patient and family education. Dr. Kaperick is a new member of ISCD and the European Calcified Tissue Society (ECTS), and in the Summer of 2022 she attended both the International Conference on Child Bone Health (ICCBH) and their Pediatric Bone School in Dublin, Ireland, to continue to enhance her acumen in this small, but essential, field.
Dr. Kaperick earned her medical degree at The Ohio State University and her Pediatric Residency at Columbus Children’s Hospital (now known as Nationwide Children’s Hospital). After starting her career as a general pediatrician in Ohio, she later became a Lurie Children’s Pediatric Hospitalist serving multiple community hospitals throughout the Chicagoland Area. In 2012 Dr. Kaperick moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to join the Pediatric Hospital Medicine team at Children’s Wisconsin and transitioned to Child Neurology in 2019.
