Estimating vertebral bone quality using CT-based Hounsfield units (HU) is quickly becoming a standard in the pre-operative evaluation for spinal surgery candidates. Lower HU is thought to predict poor post-surgical outcomes. We will identify the role of these measurements in assessing post-surgical risk and guiding pre-operative pharmacologic therapy.

Appraise the association between HU and surgical risk.
Determine the impact of pre-operative pharmacotherapy on spine surgical outcomes.
