Mrs. Julie Coco, PE is the State Sedimentation Program Manager for the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality. Her job entails managing the state Erosion and Sedimentation Control Program which includes interactions with regional staff, attorneys, federal and other state agencies, local governments, developers, and builders to ensure policies are in place and laws are enforced in accordance with the state’s Sedimentation Pollution Control Act. She was previously employed in private practice as a consultant, where she prepared erosion control, drainage and other site development plans, assisted with environmental permits, and conducted hydrological and hydraulic model studies for various clients. Mrs. Coco also performed State, NPDES, and EPA consent decree erosion control inspections on behalf of developers. She has over 25 years of combined experience in design, consulting, construction, and state regulation. Mrs. Coco obtained her bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Louisiana Tech University and holds a Graduate Certificate in Geographical Information Systems from North Carolina State University.
