Dr. Thompson attended Saint Louis University in St. Louis, MO for undergraduate and medical school training. Afterwards, she completed IM residency and Hematology and Oncology Fellowship at Mayo Clinic Rochester. She then was awarded a Mayo Foundation Scholar position, during which time she obtained a master’s degree in Epidemiology and Health Services Research from Cornell University in New York City. In 2009, she returned to Mayo Clinic to join the staff in the Hematology Division, where she is a clinical member of the Lymphoma Group and director of the Lymphoma Survivorship Clinic. She is also active in medical education, including serving as the former Associate Program Director of the Hematology/Oncology fellowship and is the current Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency in Rochester. Research interests focus on health care delivery and survivorship issues in cancer patients, including quality of life, medical complications of cancer therapy, and psychosocial conditions.
