Dr. Zorina Galis is currently the Chief of the NHLBI Vascular Biology and Hypertension Branch providing leadership and support for basic, translational, and clinical extramural research programs in basic vascular biology, and the etiology, pathogenesis, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of vascular diseases and hypertension. Dr. Galis has contributed in several areas of cardiovascular research and drug development and an acknowledged pioneer of the current leading paradigm emphasizing vascular remodeling in CVD, specifically as a basis for the plaque vulnerability associated with acute coronary syndromes and is currently leading several major initiatives across the NIH. Dr. Galis is the main author of numerous “most read” and “most cited” publications (Google Scholar profile http://scholar.google.com/citations?user=Qwwqn60AAAAJ&hl=en ) and a popular science educator and speaker.
