Matthew Appell is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Pharmacology and Molecular Sciences at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in the lab of Dr. Laura Ensign. His research is centered around the development of novel small molecule drug delivery systems for the treatment of various ocular diseases, including ocular infection and retinitis pigmentosa. His research is located at the interface of chemistry and medicine, with ultimate goals of further understanding the molecular pathogenesis of ocular diseases.
