DSM Biomedical, Limburg, Netherlands
George Mihov PhD is a Principle Scientist at DSM Biomedical who specializes in Biomaterials and Local Drug Delivery.
He obtained his MSc in Chemistry at the Sofia University, Bulgaria, and earned his PhD in Polymer Chemistry and Pharmacy at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz, Germany.
George joined DSM in 2007 as a researcher in the field of medical biomaterials. Since then, George’s work has been mostly focused on degradable biomaterials, local drug delivery, and translation research, where he has over 20 patents and 30 peer-reviewed publications. Some of his notable achievements include his leadership in the technology transfer of DSM Biomedical’s polyesteramide (PEA) biomaterial platform that was licensed in 2009 where he managed the technology implementation, scale-up, and validation at DSM’s facilities. Just three years later, in 2012, the first PEA-based product was received by a patient in a first-in-man clinical study.
