My research focuses on developing a localized therapeutic platform for patients with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), the most agressive form of central nervous system tumors. Specifically, we use acetelated dextran (Ace-DEX) for encapsulating therapies in a nanofibrous and polymeric scaffold to be placed interstitially at the time of tumor resection surgery. This platform allows therapies to be released locally in the resection cavity to impede the rapid rate of recurrence.
