Ronald A. Siegel, ScD, is Professor of Pharmaceutics and Biomedical Engineering, and Department Head of Pharmaceutics at the University of Minnesota (UMN). He received his doctorate in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science a from MIT in 1984, and taught at UCSF from 1984-1998, before joining UMN. He was President of CRS during 1997-1998. He is Fellow of CRS, AAPS, and the American Insteitute of Medical and Biological Engineering. He presently serves on the editorial boards of Journal of Controlled Release, Pharmaceutical Research, and AAPS Journal. He received the Young Investigator Research Achievement Award from CRS in 1989, and the CRS Jorge Heller Outstanding Paper Award in 2023. The author of 150 articles, Dr. Siegel's research interests have included polymeric drug delivery of macromolecules, membrane transport, hydrogels, microfabrication, rhythmic delivery of hormones, intransal delivery of benzodiazepines to treat epilepsy, amorphous solid dispersions for oral drug delivery, and pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics.
