Scott Wilkinson E.C.F.O, B.P.E., P.C.P. is a 32-year veteran of the fire and paramedic service and is the currently the Assistant Chief of Community Risk Reduction for the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) where he works with a range of government and community agencies on a variety of CRR initiatives including homelessness/encampments, hoarding, fire safety, vacant buildings and human trafficking. Scott is a Primary Care Paramedic and formerly managed the WFPS officer and chief officer development programs in his role as Senior Academy Officer. He is the former Peer Support Coordinator for the WFPS and continues to work with the department’s behavioural health and wellness programs. He serves on the NFPA 1020 Fire Officer/Fire Instructor Professional Qualifications Technical Committee and is the developer of the WFPS R.P.A.S. program, the first 24/7 immediate response first responder drone program in Canada.
Scott is the chairperson of the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs (CAFC) RPAS/Robotics Committee as well as serving on the CAFC Mental Health and Human Factors/Performance committees. In addition to a Bachelor’s degree in physical education, he is an accredited Fire Officer and has extensive experience in fire investigations, incident command, strategy/tactics and peer support. Scott was previously the Deputy Chief of the Springfield Fire & Rescue Service where he served for over 23 years.
