Course Description: Chronic scrotal content pain (CSCP) is a common presentation in general urology clinics, for which the underlying pathology and treatment options are poorly understood. Chronic pain management requires a multidisciplinary approach; however, many urologists feel ill equipped to diagnose extrascrotal causes of CSCP and explore nonsurgical treatment options.
This course will include interactive, didactic lectures from chronic pain specialists to discuss diagnostic and treatment algorithms for CSCP. Discussion will include specialists from orthopedic surgery, pelvic floor physiotherapy, psychotherapy and interventional pain experts, with tips and tricks from each specialist including videos for physical exams, trauma/pain history, and therapeutic and diagnostic injections. We will discuss quick screening for less common causes of CSCP that can be done by urologists. Know who to refer to and when, the appropriate workup, and suggestions while waiting other consults. Review treatment algorithms and indications for surgical interventions. Our goal is to make treating chronic scrotal content pain less frustrating for physicians and more effective for patients.
