Course Description: The retroperitoneal technique for robotic urological procedures is now an accepted approach. To date, the focus has been on retroperitoneal partial nephrectomy; however, with experience, other procedures and techniques have been developed. These include extraperitoneal prostatectomy, retroperitoneal nephroureterectomy, pyelolithotomy, ureteral reconstruction, adrenalectomy and lymphadenectomy. There has also been growing interest in the application of the single port robot to retroperitoneal procedures as well. Given the small workspace and lack of landmarks, advanced retroperitoneal techniques are best learned from the experience of others who have performed these procedures. In this course, the instructors provide the tips and techniques to allow the attendee to successfully perform retroperitoneal robotic surgery.
