I was born and educated in Egypt, became a general surgeon. I went to the U.K. and obtained my FRCS Ed., and FRCS London, did a fellowship in Pediatric Urology under the direction of Sir David Innes-Williams, who is the father of Pediatric Urology. Thereafter I moved to Canada and completed residency in urology at the University of Western Ontario, subsequently I did another year of Fellowship in Pediatric Urology at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto and obtained the FRCS(C). Subsequently I moved to New York and New Jersey where I have been a practicing Pediatric Urologist for the past 40 years
Currently I am a Clinical Professor of Urology at New York Weill-Cornell Medical College and on the staff of New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, Cohen Children Hospital, LIJ, and RWJ St. Barnabas Med. Center. I have been nominated as a Top Doctor every year from 1997 to 2017.
I was elected as the Pediatric Urologist of the Year in 2001 by the National Kidney Foundation. In 2013, I received the Patients’ Choice Award in New York and in 1997 I received USA Congressional Award for reconstrucive Surgeries on Children from Overseas. I have 157 publications, operated on over 5000 children with hypospadias and /or chordee, repaired 179 patients born with bladder exstrophy/epspadias, over 2500 ureteral reimplantation as well as and many other more minor procedures i.e. orchidopexy.
Pediatric Urology has been and still is a very satisfaying career for me.
