Alexandria Alverdy Spellman, MD, MS is currently completing her third year of urology residency at Duke University Hospital. Her research interests include health services research and research in financial toxicity. Her current projects are focused on financial toxcicity of urologic oncology and nephrolithiasis and first line stone treatments. She is also focusing on health related outcomes and disparities among older adults with stone disease.
Prior research experience includes working as a research project manager for two years in the field of urogynecology which focused on lower urinary tract dysfunction. She completed medical school at Chicago Medical School where she also published work on a chemical compound Imiquimod and its ability to drive stem cells into osteoblasts for potential use in vitro and in vivo in bone defects.
