Resident Doctor
China Medical University Hospital
I am Lek-Hong Tan, an MD, MPH, and urology resident doctor at China Medical University Hospital in Taiwan. My interest in investigating disease mechanisms and finding solutions to health-related problems began during my undergraduate years, and I pursued this passion by completing my Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health degrees at China Medical University School of Medicine in Taichung simultaneously in 2019.
During my studies, I conducted research projects investigating the anti-tumoral activity of Artocarpin on human brain cancer therapy, comorbidity in Autism Spectrum Disorders, and insomnia in CKD. I am proud to have published a systematic review and meta-analysis on insomnia in CKD in Kidney Medicine.
In addition to my research experience, I have gained valuable clinical exposure in urology. As part of my clinical research at the Department of Urology at China Medical University Hospital, I submitted an abstract regarding robotic-assisted laparoscopic urological cancer that was accepted by the American Urological Association (AUA) annual meeting in 2023 for presentation in Chicago.
Throughout my journey, I have also actively participated in various service and leadership activities, including organizing weekly symptomatology discussions, founding and presiding over the Mentorship Program Journal Club, and serving as the chair of the International Alumni Board and Academic Exchange Board of the Medical Student Association at China Medical University.
My diverse experiences in research, clinical exposure, and service and leadership have shaped my journey as a medical professional. I am committed to continuing to make a positive impact in the field of urology and improving the quality of life for patients through my work.
