Wake Forest University School of Medicine
My name is Maxwell Sandberg and I am a first year urology resident at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. I completed an integrated medical program with Union College, Clarkson Graduate College, and Albany Medical College earning my BS, MS, and MD degrees respectively. Currently, I am on my research year focusing on interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS) and trasnperineal prostate biopsy, as well as some kidney stone research. Examples of current projects include studying disease progression of IC/BPS, phenotyping IC/BPS patients, identifying risk factors for infection and retention after transperineal prostate biopsy, artificial intelligence to read prostate MRI, and investigating stone formation in kidney transplant patients. As of now, I have eight manuscripts that I hope to be completed in the coming months all from my research year. In my free time, I enjoy running and weightlifting, and am an avid tennis player in a local travel league in North Carolina. I am also a Michigan/Detroit sports fan, and would love to talk college football anytime. Ultimately, I would like to pursue a fellowship/career in urologic oncology.
