Dr. May is a urologic oncology fellow at the Univeristy of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She recieved her bachelor's degree in chemical and biological engineering at University of Colorado. She completed medical school and residency in Urology at Saint Louis University. Once completing fellowship, she aspires to be a surgeon-scientist, treating all genitourinary malginancies and running a basic science/translation research lab.
Dr. May's research interest is in basic science and translational kidney cancer research. She aims to understand the molecular mechanisms driving kidney cancer progression and metastasis in order to develop crucial biomarkers to guide treatment as well as new therapuetics. She is particulary interested in understanding the role and regulation of the epithelial to mesenchymal transition in kidney cancer and the interaction between tumor cells and the tumor microenvironment.
