Colin A. McLain, MD is a current chief resident at Naval Medical Center San Diego. He was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia. He attended West Virginia University from August 2008 to May 2012 in which he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Biology and achieved Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa honorary society. From there, he attended medical school at West Virginia University from August 2012 to May 2016. After completion of his medical degree in May 2016, he became intern for the General Surgery Program at Naval Medical Center San Diego. From July 2017-2019, he was assigned as Battalion Surgeon for 7th Engineer Support Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, Camp Pendleton, California. Optimized the Battalion’s Limited duty (LIMDU) and PEB program by implementing protocols and an accountability system that is now utilized across 1st MLG. He oversaw support for over 100+ field ops to include company and battalion level operations to live fire exercises. In July 2019, Lieutenant Commander McLain returned to Urology residency at NMCSD which he is due to graduate in July 2023. Authored and published “Management of Overactive Bladder in the Young Man” in peer reviewed national publication. Presented research at 4 national conferences. Enjoys snowboarding and traveling with his wife and kids.
