Dr. Sohrab Ali is an assistant clinical professor at the University of California, Irvine. He is a Royal College of Canada certified urologist. He completed residency and graduated from the University of Ottawa, Canada in 2021. Prior to residency, Dr. Ali was a researcher at the University of Western Ontario, Canada where he completed a Master of Science in Surgery. He developed novel Drosophila Melanogaster models for nephrolithiasis including calcium oxalate and uric acid stones. He developed unique genetic models and techniques for forming stones in these animals which led to significant funding from the Kidney Foundation of Canada. He additionally has significant experience with oncologic research including developing novel hematologic tests for detection of clinically significant prostate cancer using nanoscale flowcytometry for prostate cancer cell microparticles. Dr. Ali is experienced in advanced laparoscopy and endourology. His research skills include rearing and genetic manipulation of drosophila melanogaster. He is experienced in confocal microscopy, biofluorescence, nanoscale flowcytometry, cell culture and various other techniques.
