Li-Ming Su is the Pete and Carolyn Newsome Professor of Urologic Oncology and Chair of Urology at the University of Florida College of Medicine. He completed his urology residency at the New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weil Cornell in 2000 and a fellowship in robotics and laparoscopic surgery in 2001 at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He served eight years on faculty at the James Buchanan Brady Urological Institute at Johns Hopkins before coming to the University of Florida in 2008 as the Vice Chair of the Urology Department. In 2016 he assumed the role as chair of the department, raising the reputation of the program as one of the top urology departments in the southeast. His clinical interests include robotic surgery for prostate and kidney cancer. Dr. Su’s research focuses on exploring advanced imaging as applied to urologic surgery. He has authored over 105 peer-reviewed manuscripts and over 30 book chapters including chapters in Campbell’s Urology and Smith’s Textbook of Endourology. He is the editor of the textbook Atlas of Robotic Urologic Surgery, which is in its 3rd edition. Dr. Su has been a member of the American Board of Urology Written Examination Committee (2012-2016) and currently serves on the oral examination committee. He was inducted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Glasgow) in 2021 and has served as the Secretary General for the Endourological Society since 2021. He has received national audiovisual awards and is amongst Newsweek's Top Cancer Doctors and Castle Connelly's America's Top Doctors (2011-2024).
