Ashanda R. Esdaille is an Atlanta native, a Phi Beta Kappa alumna of Spelman College, and received her medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine. Following her medical degree, she completed her Urology residency at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn, NY and then completed her Society of Urologic Oncology fellowship at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Esdaille recently joined faculty at Emory University and the Atlanta Veterans' Affairs Medical Center. She has received the AUA/Urology Care Foundation Research Scholar Award with the aim of elucidating differences within prostate tumor microenvironments for Black and White men. In addition to translational research, she is also the grant recipient of the 2-year Diversity in Clinical Trials Career Development Grant with Bristol-Myers-Squibb and National Medical Fellowships where she focuses her efforts on increasing minority enrollment in prostate cancer clinical trials. Overall, Dr. Esdaille has a strong interest in prostate cancer disparities – specifically the interplay between structural inequities and prostate tumor biology.
