I have been a nurse since 2006, in 2016 I became a nurse practitoner and had the priviledge to join the Men's Health Program in the Department of Urology at the University of Miami. Despite my busy clinical responsibilities, I was able to obtain the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in 2019.
I have been part of the growth of the Men’s Health Program at the University of Miami and have been treating conditions such as low testosterone, erectile dysfunction, infertility, and ejaculatory disorders in a diverse patient population, including a large number of patients of Hispanic origin. Due to my background, I have been able to relate and connect with patients from diverse ethnicities and offer clinical care pathways seamlessly to men with sexual life concerns.
I am very involved in academia, was the first author in a peer-reviewed published article recommending protocols showing that APPs can safely manage testosterone replacement (PMID:29644169). In addition, I have been a strong collaborator in other published peer-reviewed articles focusing on fertility preservaton in the setting of hypogonadism, decreasing opioid use after scrotal surgeries, and factors affecting post-mortem disposition of crypreserved sperm, among others. I currently serve as a mentor for nurse practitioner students as well as nursing students and teach both urology residents and Andrology fellows in men's health procedures such as a Xiaflex injection for Peyronie's disease, and testosterone pellets insertion for hypogonadism. Furtehrmore, I have been a nursing faculty since 2014 and continue actively teaching, traditionla, clinical, and online courses.
I continue to closely work with Dr Ranjith Ramasamy at the Univeristy of Miami not only as a nurse practitioner but also as a co-investigator, assiting in developing clinical trial protocols and recruiting patients for several clinical trials that being conducted in Men's Health at the Department of Urology.
