Prof. Tomohiko Ichikawa specializes in Urology, he serves as Professor and Chairman at Department of Urology Graduate School of Medicine of Chiba University. Prof. Ichikawa is a clinician-scientist and urologic surgeon. He is the author or co-author of over 300 scientific articles. Major interests of his department are basic and clinical biology of prostate cancer, minimally invasive therapy for genitourinary cancers, and male infertility. Research interests focus on development and testing of new and existing methods for predicting the aggressiveness of prostate cancers. Clinical interests are focused on development of nomograms to help patients and their physicians decide among the major treatment choices for prostate cancers and non-malignant conditions. Surgical interests are focused on development of the new devices assisting laparoscopic and robotic surgeries.
In 1984, Prof. Ichikawa obtained Degree in Medicine and began to serve at Chiba University Hospital as a Clinical Resident. He then obtained Ph. D. in 1989. Soon afterward, he received Postdoctoral Fellowship training at Johns Hopkins Oncology Center, Baltimore.
Prof. Ichikawa has had over 30 years of extensive experience in teaching. He has been teaching in various universities in Japan since 1992. He is a board member of the Japanese Urological Association. He also serves on numerous executive boards in the urologic field.
