Dr. Jay Simhan is Chair and Professor of Urology at Temple University Hospital and the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. He serves as the Co-Executive Director of the Fox Chase-Temple Urologic Institute and holds the inaugural Carol and Lou Della Penna Endowed Chair in Urologic Cancer Survivorship-the only endowed chair that spans both Fox Chase Cancer Center and the Lewis Katz School of Medicine. He also serves as the Fellowship Director of the Society of GURS-verified Trauma, Male Reconstruction and Prosthetic Urology Program at the Fox Chase-Temple Urologic Institute.
Dr. Simhan graduated summa cum laude with highest honors and a BS degree in Chemistry from the UNC-Chapel Hill. After also obtaining his medical degree at UNC, he completed his Urology residency at Temple University Hospital and Fox Chase in Philadelphia. He completed additional fellowship training in Urologic Trauma and Reconstruction at the University of Texas Southwestern. Dr. Simhan has completed additional executive leadership training at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is an active and contributing member of the AUA, ACS, GURS, SIU, SUPS, and SMSNA. He currently serves as Fellowship Committee Chair and a member of the Board of Directors of the GURS.
Dr. Simhan’s clinical practice is dedicated to urethral stricture disease, open and robotic urinary tract reconstruction, penile implant surgery, male anti-incontinence surgery, revision male prosthetic surgery, Peyronie’s disease, and complications from urologic cancer treatment. He has lectured internationally on a variety of topics in urologic reconstruction, trauma, and prosthetics and is an invited international proctor for training programs in prosthetic urology. He has published chapters in leading textbooks and has co-authored over 300 peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, and book chapters in leading journals including the Journal of Urology, Urology, European Urology, and the Journal of Sexual Medicine.
