Dr. Wulff-Burchfield attended Duke University School of Medicine and subsequently completed her internal medicine residency and fellowships in medical oncology and hospice and palliative medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She is a member of medical oncology and palliative medicine faculty at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where her areas of specialization include genitourinary medical oncology and outpatient palliative medicine for patients across the oncology spectrum. Her areas of research interest are supportive care, quality of life, and geriatric oncology for patients with genitourinary malignancies. She has recently completed a trial investigating chemotherapy-induced taste changes in patients with bladder cancer and another evaluating a peer mentoring intervention regarding management of treatment side effects for kidney cancer. Dr. Wulff-Burchfield’s current trials are investigating a perioperative geriatric oncology intervention in muscle-invasive bladder cancer and a novel intervention for androgen deprivation therapy-related hot flashes. In addition to her own research, she serves as the quality of life and patient-reported outcomes chair for cooperative group trials in kidney and prostate cancer, respectively, and as a reviewer for journals such as the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Journal of Urology, and European Urology.
