Scripps Clinic/San Diego Sexual Medicine
Alyssa Yee, MD is a board certified urologist and Sexual Medicine physician. She completed the SMSNA Clinical Fellowship in 2021-2022 at San Diego Sexual Medicine and Scripps Green Hospital in San Diego, California under the mentorship of Dr. Irwin Goldstein and Dr. Jordan Siegel. Alyssa is the recipient of the SMSNA Foundation Research Grant for her work on nerve growth factor and calcitonin gene related peptide in neuroproliferative vestibulodynia. She was selected for the AUA Early Career Investigator Workshop 2024. Her research interests include vulvodynia, mast cell mediated genitopelvic pain, the role of androgens in genital physiology, spine pathology and sexual dysfunction, female sexual dysfunction, access to care, and the advancement of women in urology. A graduate of Barnard College's Architecture program, she found a non-traditional route to SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn, NY. She completed a Urological Surgery residency at Maimonides Medical Center in NY. Coming full circle from her beginnings as a patient advocate for the Crime Victim's Treatment Center prior to pursing medicine, she is involved in several health related non-profit organizations, mentors burgeoning investigators of the Sexual Medicine Research Team (SMRT), and sits on the medical advisory board for Tight Lipped. She loves cooking, salsa dancing, flying trapeze, and ceramics.
