Sigrid V. Carlsson, MD, PhD, MPH, is Head of Division of Clinical Epidemiology of Early Cancer Detection, German Cancer Research Center (Deutsches Krebsforschnungzentrum, DKFZ), in Heidelberg, Germany. She is an expert on prostate cancer screening. She leads a team dedicated to conducting large-scale epidemiological studies and randomized controlled trials on new avenues of more effective cancer prevention and early detection, and on issues of the quality of medical care, prognosis and quality of life of cancer patients. She also holds a position as Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the Department of Translational Medicine, Division of Urological Cancers, at Lund University, Lund, Sweden.
