Memorial Sloan Kettering
Dr. Behfar Ehdaie is a urologic surgeon at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) in New York – treating patients with prostate, kidney and bladder cancer. He has advanced training and expertise in minimally invasive surgery, focal therapies and MRI-guided procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. Dr Ehdaie lead a landmark multi-center study assessing the effectiveness of focal therapy for prostate cancer. Dr. Ehdaie leads MSK’s active surveillance program in which men diagnosed with prostate cancer are followed carefully, but can often avoid or delay surgery or other treatment. An international expert in urologic oncology, he has been invited to present to numerous academic medical centers and professional societies around the world. In addition, he is a member of the guideline committees that determine optimal prostate cancer management and work to improve biopsy outcomes. His research focuses on studying outcomes for men on active surveillance for prostate cancer; including assessing the impact of hereditary genetic mutations on disease risk. In addition, I am studying novel methodologies in clinical trial design to better engage patients and improve understanding of interventions compared to traditional randomized-controlled studies.
