Lama Nazzal is an assistant professor in the department of nephrology at New York University (NYU). She received her MD from the American University of Beirut and was trained in nephrology at NYU. She is a translational researcher focusing on the effect of the gut microbiome on kidney diseases and particularly nephrolithiasis. She uses next generation sequencing methods to understand microbial oxalate metabolism in the human gut in health and disease conditions. She is currently funded by NIH to study Enteric Hyperoxaluria.
