Dr. Julia B. Finkelstein is the Director of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety in the Department of Urology at Boston Children's Hospital. She is a pediatric urologist and clinical researcher formally trained in quality improvement methodology and measurement. Dr. Finkelstein graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cornell University and earned her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. She completed her 6-year urology residency training at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. During her 3-year pediatric urology fellowship at Boston Children's Hospital, Dr. Finkelstein completed a fellowship in patient safety and quality improvement through Harvard Medical School and obtained a Master of Public Health degree at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
Dr. Finkelstein is interested in the care of the breadth of pediatric urology patients, including performing inguinal, hypospadias and robotic surgery. She is committed to improving the quality of care for all children. As such, her research interests focus on quality improvement and innovation, including use of telecommunications technology and simulation to better patient care. She is passionate about innovation in health care using telemedicine and improving the lives and clinical well-being of generations of children through efforts to facilitate access to digital care in a deliberate and equitable manner.
