Firas G. Petros, MD, FACS is an Associate Professor of Urology and Medicine, Chief of Urologic Oncology at the Department of Urology / The University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences. Dr. Petros is American Board certified in urology. He completed urologic oncology fellowship training at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. Dr. Petros finished his internship and urology residency training at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute in Columbus, OH. He started his urologic oncology career at the Vattikuti Urology Institute at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI when he pursued research and clinical fellowships in Robotic and Minimally Invasive Urologic Surgery. Dr. Petros earned his medical degree from Al-Nahrain University College of Medicine in Baghdad, Iraq. Dr. Petros primary research focuses on Upper Tract Urothelial Carcinoma studying genomic profiling and Renal Cell Carcinoma investigating role of novel therapies. Other areas of research include clinical research in UTUC and RCC, prostate cancer studying disease stratification, surgical outcomes, and complications.
