Michael Grasso III, received his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson School of Medicine in Philadelphia, completing Surgery and Urology residency training at Jefferson. While there he worked closely with Dr. Demetrius Bagley, developing broad academic interests in minimally invasive surgery and Uro-oncology, advancing the field of Endourology by developing minimally invasive therapies and instrumentation, with significant contributions to the literature.
He served as Assistant and Associate Professor of Urology at Loma Linda University, Professor of Urology at New York University, and since 2001 he has been Professor of Urology at the New York Medical College. He is currently the Chairman of Urology at Phelps Memorial Northwell Health, Director of an Endourology fellowship-training program since 1999, while also stewarding a basic science and clinical research program with Thambi Dorai Ph.D. studying upper urinary tract tumor biology and mechanisms that preserve solid organs during periods of hypoxic stress.
