After 20 years of Active Duty service in the US Army, Dr Morey was Professor and Distinguished Chair of Reconstructive Urology in Honor of Allen F. Morey, MD from 2007 until 2023 in the Department of Urology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. There he directed the successful UTSW Fellowship program in Urologic Trauma, Reconstruction, and Prosthetics, having 23 graduates.
Dr. Morey has been a global thought leader in academic Reconstructive Urology for the past 20 years. As President of the Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons (GURS), Dr Morey initiated the AUA Reconstructive Fellowship Match, which now actively matches fellows to 25 programs annually. As Chair of the AUA Urotrauma Guidelines Committee, Dr Morey was lead author of this trauma guideline and its two subsequent updates. For over a decade, he was Urologic Survey Contributing Editor in Trauma and Reconstruction for the Journal of Urology. He has published over 510 peer reviewed articles. He directed over 20 reconstructive humanitarian missions to Honduras both with the US Army and with the South Central Section AUA over the past two decades.
Dr. Morey has been an innovator in sexual medicine and prosthetic urology, having popularized submuscular placement of IPP reservoirs and developed new surgical solutions for refractory priapism patients which have now become widely adopted internationally. He served as President of the AUA South Central Section. His previous honors include the 2016 AUA Distinguished Contribution Award, the 2019 Ferdinand C. Valentine Award from the New York Medical Academy for contributions to the field of urology, and the 2021 F. Brantley Scott Award from American Medical Systems for contributions in prosthetic urology.
Dr. Morey is presently a Reconstructive Urologist in Private Practice in North Dallas where he directs a new fellowship in Prosthetic and Reconstructive Urology.
