Pat Fox Fulgham, MD, DABU, Surgical Director of Oncology Services at Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas
Dr. Fulgham has been performing and interpreting urologic ultrasound since 1986. In 1993, he began teaching post graduate courses in urologic ultrasound for the American Urological Association (AUA) Office of Education and has been continuously teaching physicians and residents the fundamentals and clinical use of urologic ultrasound since that time.
He was a charter member of the Urologic Diagnostic and Therapeutic Imaging Committee (UDTIC) of the American Urological Association and was chairman of that committee from 2008 to 2016. During that time, he established the National Urologic Ultrasound Faculty, a group of dedicated clinicians and instructors of ultrasound. Among the accomplishments of that group was the production of enduring educational materials in the form of training videos for the performance of all of the commonly performed examinations in urologic ultrasound. In addition, the UDTIC worked with the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) to write and publish the AIUM Practice Guidelines for the Performance of an Ultrasound Examination in the Practice of Urology. Dr. Fulgham has been deeply involved in the ongoing development of ultrasound and the appropriate use of advanced imaging in the practice of urology. He has been the AUA’s representative to the American College of Radiology (ACR) Appropriateness Criteria® Committee since June 2006. He was an invited editor for Urology Clinics of North America on the topic of urologic imaging in 2006. He is the co-editor of Practical Urological Ultrasound and just recently released the third edition. He has contributed chapters on imaging in multiple publications including Campbell-Walsh Urology, Pelvic Floor Ultrasound: Principles, Applications, and Case Studies, Prostate Ultrasound: Current Practices and Future Directions and Ultrasound of the Male Genitalia. He isco-editor of the World Journal of Urology.
