Kathleen Hwang, MD is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Urology and OB/GYN and Reproductive Sciences at The University of Pittsburgh. She is the Director of Male Reproductive Health and the Director of The UPMC Men’s Health Center.
She has a strong interest in both clinical and basic science aspects of male infertility and sexual health and was a NIH K12 Career Development Program Scholar during her two-year fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine under the guidance of Drs. Dolores J. Lamb and Larry I. Lipshultz. At the University of Pittsburgh, her passion for research continues where Dr. Hwang has an active laboratory involved in research on the biology and mechanisms of toxic disruption of testicular function, the genetic basis of infertility, as well as understanding mechanisms of wound injury. She has active funding from the NICHD and she is committed to translating lab bench discoveries to the clinic for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of male infertility.
She actively participates in committees and meetings of reproductive societies- she is the current SSMR treasurer, SMRU secretary/ treasurer, and the SRS President.
