Alexander Kutikov, MD, FACS, is a board certified urologic surgical oncologist, Co-Executive Director of the Fox Chase–Temple Urologic Institute, and Chair of the Department of Urology at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, where he also holds the Roberta R. Scheller Endowed Chair in Urologic Oncology. Dr Kutikov leads one of the Northeast’s busiest urology and urologic oncology services, specializing in minimally invasive techniques such as robotic and laparoscopic surgery, as well as complex open surgery.
Since assuming leadership of the Division in 2017, Dr Kutikov has secured the team’s position among the top 20 urology programs in the United States as ranked by USNWR, underscoring the group's growth, clinical excellence, and national reputation. In 2022 he transitioned the Division into a free standing Department. A widely published academic, he has authored more than 350 peer reviewed publications, including the seminal R.E.N.A.L. Nephrometry Score, a globally adopted system for assessing kidney tumor complexity. His scholarly work also includes chapters in leading urologic textbooks, including the definitive chapter on adrenal disorders in Campbell Walsh Wein Urology.
Recognized for his expertise, Dr Kutikov was promoted to full professor before the age of 40 and has held leadership roles in the American Urological Association, the American College of Surgeons, and the Society of Urologic Oncology.
Dr Kutikov graduated from the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology Program at Harvard Medical School and completed his urologic residency at the University of Pennsylvania. He went on to complete a Society of Urologic Oncology fellowship at Fox Chase Cancer Center. He earned his BS in Chemistry Summa Cum Laude from Emory University, where he attended on a full merit based Woodruff Scholarship and was named Emory’s Oxford University Scholar, studying at University College, Oxford, during his junior year.
