Elizabeth B. Yerkes, MD, is Associate Professor of Urology at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. She has been Attending Pediatric Urologist at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, formerly Children’s Memorial Hospital, since 2005. Dr. Yerkes graduated from Bowdoin College and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. She completed residency in Urological Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and then took her Pediatric Urology fellowship at Riley Hospital for Children. As a recipient of a Health Professions Scholarship from the Armed Forces for medical school, she served the families of our servicemen and women active duty in the US Navy Reserve at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center and was faculty member in the SAUSHEC urology residency program in San Antonio for 4 years.
Dr. Yerkes’ primary clinical interests are medical and surgical management of neurogenic bladder and of complex congenital urinary and genital anomalies. At Lurie Children’s, she is Director of Neurourology and Urodynamics and Co-director of Reconstruction. She has supported the spina bifida community not only clinically but also through educational activities and participation in the Professional Advisory Council of the Spina Bifida Association. Dr. Yerkes is the Fellowship Director for one of the most long standing Pediatric Urology programs in the country and is currently Chair of the Pediatric Urology Fellowship Program Directors Committee. She is Editor of Dialogues in Pediatric Urology and has been active in the Executive Committee of the Society of Pediatric Urology and recently President of the Society for Fetal Urology. Dr. Yerkes had the privilege of being AUA Exchange Scholar in Nagoya Japan in 2011. She is a contributing author to the AUA Core Curriculum and author of a number of original articles and chapters in her main fields of interest.
