(kelvin.davies@einsteinm,ed.edu)
I joined the Department of Urology at Einstein in 2001 and currently have appointments as Professor of Urology (primary), Director of Urology Basic Research Laboratories and Professor of Molecular Pharmacology (secondary). For more than 2-decades I have applied my background in biochemistry and molecular biology to increase our understanding of the underlying mechanisms resulting in urogenital disease (especially sexual dysfunction). I have authored more than 75 peer-reviewed articles, and my research has a strong track record of attracting extramural support, having acted as PI/MPI on over 15 NIH sponsored grants (a K01, a P20, two R21’s, four R01’s, six SBIR/STTR’s, a U2C-TL1 and two DiaComp grants). I have also served leadership roles in several national organizations promoting basic science research of urologic disease. For example, I am the President and board member of the Society for Pelvic Research (pelvicresearch.com), member of the Research Advocacy Committee of the American Urological Association (auanet.org) and from 2017 to 2021 served as Basic Science Committee Chair and board member of the Sexual Medicine Society of North America (smsna.org)
