Suzette E. Sutherland, MD, MS, FPMRS is Director of Female Urology, UW Medicine Pelvic Health Center and Associate Professor in Urology at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, WA. As a leader in her field, she is board-certified in the specialty of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery through the ABU/ABOG in 2013. She is committed to Women’s Global Urological Health Initiatives, as well as national and global advocacy for fellow women in medicine/surgery, and won an AUA/UCF Humanitarian Grant 2023. She completed her MD degree and urologic training at Case Western Reserve Univ/Univ Hospital of Cleveland with specialty training in female urology from the Center for Continence Care & Female Urology in Mpls/St. Paul, and the Institute for Sexual Medicine in Boston. After 10 years with a large multi-specialty urology practice in Mpls/St Paul she re-entered academia at the University of Washington, where she continues to serve as a clinician, teacher, and researcher. She has made numerous contributions to the medical literature: presentations, papers, and book chapters; and takes an active role in training future female urologists. She serves as a consultant for drug/device companies and is active in clinical research through national/international clinical trials. As an advocate for patients and colleagues, she has worked at the local, state, national, and international levels to increase awareness about urological and workplace diversity issues, and affect policy that governs both medical care and practice. Dr. Sutherland is an active member with leadership positions in national/international urology and FPMRS/URPS organizations. She is a reviewer for various journals and abstracts for national and international conferences. She is currently the Global Health Section Editor for Current Bladder Dysfunction Reports, and on the Editorial Board for Neurourology and Urodynamics (SUFU Journal). She recently received a 2022 AUA/Journal of Urology Best Reviewer Award.
