Dr. Marcelino Rivera is an Assistant Professor of Urology at Indiana University School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine and completed his residency in Urology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Following residency, he pursued a fellowship in Endourology and ESWL at Indiana University School of Medicine, where he currently serves as Director of the Endourology/ESWL Fellowship Program and Chief of Urology at Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital.
Dr. Rivera is the Section Editor for the American Urological Association (AUA) Core Curriculum on the Surgical Management of Stone Disease and is a nationally recognized lecturer. His clinical expertise includes both the surgical and metabolic management of urinary stone disease, as well as advanced surgical treatments for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), with a specialization in Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP).
His research interests encompass the surgical management of kidney stones, pathogenesis of kidney stones, HoLEP outcomes, and specific factors contributing to stone formation among diverse populations.
