Sarah Faris, MD is an associate professor of Urology at the University of Chicago. She went to Princeton University for undergraduate where she studied Art History and competed on the Women’s Varsity Swim Team. She attended the University of Michigan Medical School for her medical education and Vanderbilt University for Urology residency. Dr. Faris completed a GURS fellowship at Iowa and is now an Associate Professor at the University of Chicago where she focuses on male and female reconstructive Urology. Dr. Faris is active in research and is the PI for a grant conducting a national collaborative randomized controlled trial on the role of antibiotics and prosthetics. She is committed to education and is the Urology Residency Program Director and Senior Editor for the American Urologic Association Core Curriculum. Other leadership roles include Surgical Director of the DCAM Ambulatory Operating Room, member of the Department of Surgery DEI Steering Committee and former Ambulatory Medical Director for Urology. She is the founder and chair of the interdepartmental University of Chicago Women Surgeons Committee with a focus on advocacy for female surgeons and trainees, career development and mentorship. Her efforts were recently recognized when she was awarded the University of Chicago Distinguished Leader in Diversity and Inclusion Award.
She is a proud mother of a six year old daughter and four year old son.
