Course Description:This course will review the natural history, initial evaluation and treatment of the male patient with anterior urethral strictures, posterior urethral injuries, obstruction after surgery and/or radiation for prostate cancer, urethral-genital trauma, and other disorders of the penis and scrotum including Peyronie's disease. Topics will include a review of diagnostic urethral calibration with bougie-à-boules, the proper technique for performing urethral imaging (retrograde urethrogram and voiding cystourethogram), new techniques to place suprapubic tubes percutaneously, and a review of current indications and techniques for dilation, urethrotomy and open reconstruction. In addition, the management of urethral genital trauma and other penile-scrotal disorders will be reviewed. This course will focus on basic techniques applicable to the general urologist and also serve as an update on current best practices and guidelines with a focus on algorithms for decision making.
