Dr. Lowry is an Adjunct Professor of Surgery at the University of Minnesota. She graduated from Harvard University and Tufts University School of Medicine. She completed general surgery training at Tufts and a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the University of Minnesota. Her clinical interests are pelvic floor disorders and inflammatory bowel disease with a research focus in pelvic floor disorders. In addition, surgical education, diversity, and leadership are cornerstones of her career. She was the program director of the University of Minnesota colon and rectal surgery residency for 10 years; she served as the President of the Association of Program Directors of Colon and Rectal Surgery and the Chair of the Residency Review Committee of Colon and Rectal Surgery. In 2005, Dr. Lowry was the President of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery. She is currently a member of the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. Her efforts focus now on mentorship, diversity, engagement in ASCRS and global surgical education. She is chair of the Engagement Committee of ASCRS.
