Andrew Stevenson is Senior Colorectal Surgeon, Clinical Professor in surgery at University of Queensland and and past Head of the Colorectal Surgery department at Royal Brisbane Hospital and Honorary Associate of the National Health and Medical Research Council Clinical Trials Centre in Sydney, Australia. Prof Stevenson has been the principal investigator for a number of multi centre trials on minimal invasive colorectal surgery including ALaCaRT comparing laparoscopic with open surgery for rectal cancer and the new trial of robotic v. laparoscopic colectomy - RoLaCaRT. Andrew has been closely involved in the international consensus forums for a number of minimally invasive procedures including ventral rectopexy, transanal TME for rectal cancer and complete mesocolic excision for colon cancer. Prof Stevenson is past Chair of the ANZ Training Board in Colorectal Surgery and recently awarded the distinguished Honorary Fellow of the American Society of Colorectal Surgery.
