The “Lasting Connections” symposium will focus on low pelvic colorectal anastomotic techniques and mitigation of anastomotic leak rates. Topics will include near-infrared imaging and alternatives to double staple anastomosis.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

Discover insight into risk factors for anastomotic leaks, perfusion/defect.
Realize how to identify poor connections (future anastomotic leaks), and how to improve anastomosis lasting connections (reduce anastomotic leak rates).
Improved awareness of the variety of technical options for low pelvic anastomosis creation, interrogation, and postoperative leak rates.
