Debra Gonsher Vinik, PhD, is a film producer, writer and director who founded Diva Communications, a programming and production company specializing in social justice documentaries. She has produced and written 21 documentaries, including six Emmy winners: The Eternal Light (2007); And the Gates Opened: Women in the Rabbinate (2008), Yearning to Belong (2009), Divine Prescription (2014), and Beauty of Their Dreams (2016) and Brightness of Noon, Part II (2020). Dr. Gonsher Vinik’s newest feature film, Attention Must Be Paid: Women Lost in the Opioid Crisis is a call-to-action for people to demand opioid litigation settlement monies be channeled toward women-specific addiction treatment and recovery services. The film will air as a two part series on ABC-affiliated stations in May and September 2023, and on PBS stations afterward.
In addition to her documentary work with Diva, Dr. Gonsher Vinik runs the website Mincha Moment: Taking Time to Be Grateful which is devoted to the daily practice of gratitude via short web videos and an intermittent blog.
