Family Physician/Lead Medical Provider for Ryther/Kaiser Permanente Youth MOUD program

Dr. Taryn Hansen is a family medicine physician at Kaiser Permanente Orion clinic, co-located within Youth Care Orion Center in Seattle. In her current position, Dr. Hansen focuses on addiction recovery for King County adolescents as the medical provider of a grant-funded Ryther-Kaiser Permanente team responding to vulnerable youth struggling with substance use, primarily opioid use disorder. Dr. Hansen provides medications for substance use disorder as part of a low barrier, team-based model built around intensive case management and rapid response. With this team, Dr. Hansen works across settings from shelters and encampments, supportive housing, and the primary care clinic to provide dignified, quality care for young people facing substance use disorder. Dr. Hansen also works within this model to provide whole person medical care including primary care, mental health, gender health, and reproductive health. Previously, she spent many years working at the intersection of public health and public policy as a legislative aide in Washington D.C.
