Bren Manaugh, MSW, LCSW-S, CCTS
Bren Manaugh is a Principal with Health Management Associates (HMA) a national consulting firm specializing in publicly funded healthcare and the people who rely on it. Bren is a clinician, healthcare leader, and specialist in organizational and systems transformation with more than twenty-five years of experience in clinical services and operations. She currently directs HMA’s Illinois Jail MAR (Medications for Addiction Recovery) project for Illinois Department of Human Services Substance Abuse Prevention and Recovery, a learning collaborative supporting multidisciplinary county teams with increasing access to addiction treatment for persons with justice system involvement through implementation of MAR in jails and county justice and SUD service delivery systems. She also leads HMA's California project, Medications for Addiction Treatment (MAT) in Jails and Drug Courts which since its inception has supported 37 counties with MAT implementation and under which almost 32,000 persons have accessed MAT while incarcerated in participating county jails. To date at HMA Bren has supported more than 60 jails in 16 states with MAT implementation.
Prior to joining HMA Bren was an executive leader at a large public BH agency in San Antonio where she developed and administered programs in the nationally recognized Bexar County diversion model partnering with multiple hospitals, city and county leadership, and the criminal justice system. She oversaw operations across a full continuum of mental health and substance use disorder services, and in partnership with the Sheriff, Police Department, County and Courts, across the entire sequential intercept map.
Bren’s approach engages multiple stakeholders and decision makers to generate innovative strategies to develop and drive person-centered, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed care to optimize outcomes and reduce costs. She is a licensed clinical social worker and certified clinical supervisor and a certified clinical trauma specialist.
