Dr. Allie Thomas-Fannin MD completed her medical training at University of Louisville in 2012 before attending Duke University for Psychiatry Residency. She is the current Program Director for the IUSM (Vincennes) Psychiatry program in Vincennes Indiana and an adjunct assistant, clinical professor at Indiana University in the school of medicine. During training, she developed an interest in working with addiction populations at the VA medical center in Durham and while in her role as chief resident for the VA working on a project to increase the motivational interviewing skills of third year medical students and decrease stigma among medical trainees. After completing her psychiatry training in 2016, she began working at Good Samaritan Hospital at the Samaritan Center community mental health center and later obtained board certification in addiction medicine in 2021. She was named program director of the new IUSM psychiatry program in 2017, which will graduate its first class in 2023. She has practiced clinically with community mental health center patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings and helped found a PHP program for addictions at the Samaritan Center in 2020.
